The business-specific assignment
Review typography-sensitive symbols, tables and reference targets. Record legitimate reflow differences separately from missing disclosure.
Your coordinator: Typesetting leads and financial-print production managers.
The source context may include typeset pdfs, word manuscripts, tables, prospectus sections and exhibits.
Illustrative production scenario
A new line break is not necessarily a content defect; a detached superscript or missing minus sign is.
This is an example of the control to test, not a measured client result or an accepted filing. Ask the named reviewer to define success before production starts.
Inputs and outputs
Provide these inputs:
- Approved source and review package
- Agreed production checklist and comparison baseline
- Named content and specialist reviewers
A scoped handoff can contain:
- Text/numeric/structure/package review findings
- Severity, owner and proposed action for each issue
- Retest log or unresolved decision list
Review focus
- Use visual proof and extracted text together; neither replaces the other.
- Treat content loss, missing files and malformed applicable iXBRL as blockers.
- Record validator configuration and review warnings rather than suppressing them.
Your team retains design approval and client disclosure decisions; the filing party retains submission.
What is outside this assignment
This is production QA—not a securities-law audit, accounting assurance engagement or guarantee of SEC acceptance.
Provide editable source where possible and identify presentation features that must survive reflow.
Plan the handoff
Agree source freeze, version naming, one instruction stream, correction allowance and escalation contact. Confidential materials belong only in the separately approved transfer route.
